Important HS Band Updates

  • Don't forget – An "Evening of Jazz" with the MHS Jazz Band on Friday, March 30th, at 7:00 pm The performance will be held at the West Central Illinois Art Center, 25 E. Side Square in Macomb. In addition to the Jazz band, several small ensembles will perform pieces which received high awards from the recent IHSA Solo & Ensemble contest held in Rushville on March 3rd. The concert is free, but a donation to the Art Center is encouraged.
  • MHS is hosting IHSA Organizational Contest (band and choir event) Fri. April 13th 3:00-9:30 pm Many volunteers are needed to make this event flow smoothly. Please complete the attached volunteer form and return to me ASAP.

Band Camp Opportunity

March 29, 2012

Parents:

Summer is just around the corner and so are new musical opportunities. Several major universities, including our very own WIU, offer music camps. The Macomb Band Boosters generously supply partial scholarships to students who wish to attend. 7th graders can attend junior high level camps and 8th graders have the choice of junior high or high school. Please take a moment to talk this over with your budding musician. Thank you for your time.

Raffle Tickets

March 26, 2012

By now, all 6-12th grade band parents should have received a raffle packet with tickets to sell for the Grand Band Sweepstakes. We need every parent to sell as many tickets as possible. Proceeds from the raffle will be used to purchase new drums for the marching band. Extra tickets can also be obtained from Terrill Tile on the Square.

Ticket stubs, money and unused tickets can be turned in every Friday in band.

Radio spots for the raffle will begin 4/1. Listen for Doug Mattsey!

Macomb Bands Collage Concert

March 4, 2012

Just a friendly reminder that the 7-12 grade bands will have a Collage Concert on Thurs. 3/8 at 7:00 pm in Fellheimer Auditorium.

We will also be distributing raffle ticket packets to all band parents for this year's Grand Band Sweepstakes (raffle to win $1000). The raffle will conclude at the HS concert on Tues. 5/1. Proceeds from the raffle will be used to purchase marching band drums.
