Final Park N Cruise – Fri. Sept. 3

Mark your calendar!—The final Park 'N Cruise of the season is Fri. 9/3. The Knights of Columbus will be on site selling soda, brats and burgers. They have generously agreed to donate 50% of their profits this season to our uniform drive. Music will be provided by "The Bail Out Boys". Stop down to check things out and have dinner or a snack.

Concert of Appreciation – Sat. 9/11

The Macomb High School Marching Bomber Band and the Macomb Band Boosters cordially invite all to a Concert of Appreciation to thank the greater Macomb community for its support during the Operation Band Aid uniform fund raising drive.

The concert will take place on Saturday, September 11, 2010. The Bomber Band drum line will begin performing at 11:30 am; the entire band will begin its performance at 12:00 noon. The event will take place on the Macomb Downtown Square. (Fellheimer Auditorium will serve as the rain venue.)

The band will perform selections from this season's marching show ("Estancia") and other perennial favorites.

The band will also collect food items for Loaves & Fishes and supplies for the McDonough County Animal Shelter

Loaves & Fishes seeks donations of non-perishable food items such as the following:

  • canned vegetables (green beans, peas, corn)
  • canned pasta items
  • uncooked pasta (including macaroni & cheese)
  • dry cereal
  • peanut butter & jelly
  • pork & beans
  • canned tuna

The McDonough County Animal Shelter seeks donations of the following:

  • cat & kitten food (Purina blue & yellow bags [preferred])
  • dog & puppy food (Pedigree [preferred])
  • cat litter (50# bags of oil dry from Farm King [best value])
  • paper towels
  • bleach
  • Pine Sol
  • laundry soap
  • walking leashes
  • choke chains

2010-2011 Souvenir Show Shirt—Order Now!

August 25, 2010

There will be a 2010 marching band T-shirt for those interested. It will cost the band members $5 for one shirt and after that they can buy as many as they want for $10 a shirt. Cost for non-band members cost will be $10. Sizes available are Sm, M, Lg, XL. There will be limited quantities of 2XL & 3XL—order these early to be sure you get one. These T-shirts are strictly souvenir and not required for band. There is an order sign up sheet in the band room. Orders will be taken until Friday August 27th. Payment can occur when the shirts arrive.

Uniform Distribution – Sat. August 21

Lots of volunteers are need to help with uniform distribution this coming weekend. Help is needed on Fri. at 4:30 pm to pull out all the uniforms and get things organized for Sat. On Sat. starting at 1:00 pm we will need help getting things fitted and checked out. If you can help in any way, please contact Cindy Cavett via e-mail ASAP.

Details about the distribution process; costs of shoes, gloves, cleaning fees; etc. will be distributed very soon. Please share this information with new band parents that might not be part of the e-mail group yet.

... and a good time was had by all. That seems to be the general consensus of the Band Gala. On behalf of the Band Boosters, I would like to express our appreciation for the generous support we have received during our uniform drive. This fundraising effort began only 11 months ago. How remarkable that we have almost met our goal!

We will try to have some photos from the Gala posted on MacombBands.org later this week.

Bellow is the finalized itinerary for Sat., Aug. 14, Operation Band Aid Gala day!

Final Itinerary for Saturday, August 14, 2010
8:00-11:00 am marching practice
11:00 am - 12:00 noon
  • lunch and travel (on your own) to WIU Heritage Room for Gala rehearsal
  • park in lower lot
  • grey band shirts to be distributed to new band members
1:30 pm WIU rehearsal in Heritage Room
1:30 pm Students dismissed
6:00 pm
  • meet at University Baptist Church (Sherman Ave.)
  • pizza to be provided for dinner
  • cookies needed – please send them in a disposable container to University Baptist with your student
  • students are to wear their grey band shirt and tan shorts/pants.
7:40 pm
  • walk to WIU with chaperones
  • perform at Gala (between dinner and dessert)
9:00 pm Return to University Baptist for movie and snacks. Depart at 10:45 pm

*** Reminder—Macomb Curfew for all students under 18 is 11:00 pm

Band Aid Gala

August 3, 2010

It's not too late to get your reservations in for the Operation Band Aid Gala—Sat. Aug. 14 (less than 2 weeks away) at the WIU Grand Ballroom. It will be a very fun evening! Doors open at 6:00 pm with dinner at 7:00 pm A silent auction will run throughout the evening and the winner of the scooter raffle will be announced. There will also be lots of great entertainment. You won't want to miss this event! Tell your friends, family and more. Reservation forms are available on the band web site (www.MacombBands.org/gala), or at Mid America Nat. Bank, Citizens/Morton Community Bank, and Pumo Insurance.

The deadline to submit reservations has been extended to August 7th. We hope you will join us for a wonderful evening and support our uniform drive.

Sewing Help Needed for the Band Gala

August 1, 2010

Sewing help is needed for the Band Aid Gala (Sat. Aug, 14). We need help with simple machine sewing of the chair covers. Volunteers can do it at home on their own or join a small group in an assembly line production. All interested persons should contact Dee Kirwan via e-mail or at 255-1867.
