Help Needed

Cindy Cavett could use a few volunteers to help get the cleaned uniforms filed back into the existing uniforms. This is critical so we can get kids
outfitted for the musical. She would like to meet on Thursday April 1. Meet about 4:30 or 5:00 in the band room (Felheimer door will be open)

- Thank You! – Thanks to all who attended Jazz in the Afternoon Sunday at Café Aroma. Special thanks are extended to Carol Pircon for finding this wonderful concert venue as well as Mr. Wetmore, Mr. Mattsey, and all the student musicians. It was a great afternoon!
- Shop-N-Share Update – Thanks to all who participated in the Hy-Vee Shop-N-Share this past weekend. We had fabulous participation which will hopefully bring in a lot of money. Hy-Vee will tell us the exact amount after their late April board meeting. Please spread the word that we greatly appreciate the community's support.
- DVD – We still have some copies of the DVD/CD combo of the 2009 marching season. Cost is only $10! Order now before supplies run out. This makes a great graduation gift. Email Kim Johnson if you are interested in a copy.
- Music Man Raffle Tickets – This year's MHS musical is The Music Man. You can purchase a raffle ticket to win a 2 day trip to "River City" (Burlington) Iowa. (Sponsored by Wells Fargo Advisors LLC). The winner to be announced during the 4/11 performance of The Music Man.The Package includes:
- 2 nights at The Squirrel's Nest B&B
- Dinner for 2 at The Drake
- Dinner for 2 at Martini's
- Lunch at a Burlington restaurant
- Spa massage
Tickets are 1 for $3 or 3 for 5.Tickets will be on sale in the Fellheimer Auditorium foyer from 5:00-6:30 pm Mon. 3/29, thru Thu. 4/1 and then again Mon. 4/5 thru Thu. 4/8. - Scooter Raffle Tickets – Each band family was sent 10 scooter raffle tickets to sell (1 for $5, 5 for $20). If you haven't seen the scooter yet it is on display at Pumo Insurance on the square. If you did not receive tickets or need more, contact Carol Pircon via email or at 833-5118.
Whew—There is a lot going on! We need everyone's help to make these fundraising ideas work successfully.

Volunteers Needed
March 28, 2010
- We will be selling raffle tickets for the Scooter and the River City get-a-way during the Musical advance ticket sales nights starting Mon. March 29, thru Thu., April 1, and then again 4/5-4/8, from 5:00-6:30 pm in the auditorium foyer. We need volunteers to take 45 min. shifts starting at 5:00 pm. Please contact Carol Pircon via email if you can help.
- Organizational Contest – MHS is hosting the ISHA Organization Contest on Fri. April 16th. Many volunteers will be needed to help with room set ups, concessions etc. Please contact Mr. Wetmore via email if you can assist with this event.
- WJEQ Classic 103 at 7:30 am
- K100 immediately following at 7:40 am
- Fine Arts Expo at Edison on Fri. 3/26 – 6th grade band will perform. A variety of Macomb band items will be for sale as well as raffle tickets for the scooter which is currently on display in the Pumo Insurance window. It is AWESOME! Raffle tickets for the scooter have also been mailed to all band families and should arrive in the next few days. We will need everyone's help to sell to the max. If you do not receive tickets or need more, please contact Beck Pumo via e-mail or (309) 255-2505.
- Please remember to use your Shop-N-Share coupon(s) this weekend (3/26-3/28) at Hy-Vee. The process is VERY easy!
- Shop at Hy-Vee for groceries
- Enter the amount you spent from your receipt and sign your coupon
- Give it to the cashier
On Mon. 3/29 they will calculate the total from the coupons and give Macomb Bands 10%.Please forward the coupon attachment to others (not in band) so that we can raise as much money as possible for new marching uniforms. - Jazz in the Afternoon – Sun. 3/28 3:00 pm at Café Aroma. Both the junior and senior high jazz bands will perform.
- The Olympic Band Contest in Farmington tomorrow (3/11) has been cancelled due to a death in the family of the Farmington band director.
- Mark your calendar – "Jazz in the Afternoon" Sun. 3/28 at Café Aroma featuring the JH and HS jazz bands.
- Ways and Means Committee will meet Tues. 3/9 at 6:00 pm in the MHS Band Room. Some items to discuss: Coin drive, scooter raffle, dinner dance.
- Band Boosters will meet Tues. 3/9 at 7:00 pm Minutes from February, agenda, and treasurer's reports (general, fundraisers summary) are attached.
- 5:45 am – meet at MHS (east doors)
- 6:00 am – depart for Barry, IL
- 6:00 pm (or earlier) – return to Macomb

Final MHS Spring Trip Payment Due
March 24, 2010
The final trip payment for the MHS band trip May 7-8 was due Mon. 3/22. Please submit your balance due ASAP. Chaperone costs are still pending. The band web site (www.macombbands.org) reflects payments received as of 3/5/10.

Virtuoso euphonium performer, Mark Carlson, will present a free recital in the COFAC Recital Hall on Monday, March 22 at 7:30 pm
Mark grew up on a farm outside Macomb, Illinois. He has studied with John Stevens, Jukka Myllys, Rex Martin, Bruce Briney and Joseph Goble. After completing his bachelor's degree in Euphonium and Music Technology at Northwestern University, he traveled as a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar to Oulu, Finland. Also in Finland, he took second place in the Lieksa Brass Week International Euphonium Competition. During his master's work at the University of Wisconsin-Madison he was a winner in the Concerto Competition, and took first place in the Tubonium5 Solo Euphonium Competition and recently placed second in the 2008 International Tuba Euphonium Conference Solo Euphonium Competition. Mark currently is a music professor at Richland College in Dallas, TX.

We need 6 or so volunteers to work a table at the Edison Fine Arts Expo on Friday, March 26. 6:00-9:00 pm (1 hour shifts). Job: handing out Hy-Vee Shop-n-Share coupons (event 3/26-3/28), selling scooter raffle tickets (If you have not seen it, it is on display in the Pumo Insurance window on the Square. Very Cool! Cost of scooter underwritten by Farm King, Aurelios & Pumo Insurance) and collecting "Change for a Change in Uniform".

Shop-N-Share for Macomb Bands

This year, Macomb Band Boosters has begun a major fundraising campaign to purchase new band uniforms. The current uniforms are 15 years old and are definitely showing their age. New uniforms will cost more than $50,000. On March 26-28, we will be participating in the Shop-N-Share program at Hy-Vee. Shoppers will submit their completed Shop-N-Share coupon at the register at the conclusion of their shopping. Hy-Vee will donate 10% of the total sales based on these coupons to Macomb Bands.
Very easy, right? All we ask is that you distribute the attached coupons to as many people as you can. Be creative—market heavily. We cannot distribute coupons in front of the store or via the newspaper.
Spread the word—Band Boosters needs everyone's help!
