Spaghetti Supper Cancelled for this Year

Because of scheduling conflicts and other student commitments, the Macomb Band Boosters have cancelled the Spaghetti Supper for this year.

A heartfelt thank-you to all who offered dessert donations and volunteered their time. Events like the Spaghetti Supper would not be possible without you. We greatly appreciate it!

For those who placed pre-sales ticket orders, please contact Sean O'Donnell-Brown via e-mail to let him know whether you'd like Band Boosters to return, destroy, cash (donate), or do something else with your check. If you would like your check returned, please let Sean know how you'd like the return to take place.

Please note that you can still purchase the 2009 Marching Season DVD/CD combo that Band Boosters planned to make available at the Spaghetti Supper for only $10. The DVD includes

  • video from performances throughout the season
  • audio recordings of the field show, fight song, and parade theme
  • a slide show and still photos of the U of I show
  • much more

2009 Marching Season DVD/CD combo would make a great graduation gift or memento of the year. To order or for more information, visit Macombbands.org.

MHS Trip Payment #2

February 23, 2010

Don't' forget—the 2nd payment for the MHS spring trip payment was due on due on Monday, February 22nd. Parents—Please check the status of your student's account on the Band website. Balances in parentheses indicate overpayments (or payments ahead of schedule). Carryover balances from last year are also included. The names of students who have indicated that they will not be attending the trip may not appear on the list.

The final payment date is 3/22. Contact Sean O'Donnell-Brown via e-mail if there are errors.

Spaghetti Dinner on Monday 2/22

We still have significant need for desserts and volunteers for the Spaghetti Supper on Monday evening. If you can make a donation or help out for an hour or more (see below), Band Boosters would greatly appreciate it. Please contact Sean via e-mail.

We need about 15-20 dozen additional dessert servings. (We can really never have too many desserts: Having extras allows us to sell more of the nicer desserts in the bake sale, and leftovers go to thank the MHS custodial staff, faculty, and other school staff for their year-round support of the bands.)

As for volunteers, we have the following needs:

  • 5:00-6:00 pm—need 7 to 10 additional volunteers
  • 6:00-7:00 pm—need 10 to 13 additional volunteers
  • 7:00-8:00 pm—need 3 to 5 additional volunteers
  • … and as many people who can take a few minutes after the final performance to help clear and store tables and chairs and "tear down"—the more hands we have, the faster it goes.

For sale at the Spaghetti Supper (Monday, February 22): A DVD/CD combo of the marching band's 2009 fall show for only $10.00. Proceeds will go to help fund the purchase of new uniforms.

The following items are included on the 2009 season DVD:

  • The first performance (Saturday afternoon)
  • The first Friday night performance, including the pre-game and half-time show
  • The Morton Field Show
  • The WIU Field Show
  • The U of I Field Show – stationary wide screen view
  • The U of I Field Show – moving zoomed view (top of the stadium at the 50 yard line)
  • The U of I Parade brass versus woodwinds
  • Comedy Chili Supper video
  • Photo slide show from the U of I Field Show and Parade
  • Mr. Zahnle's introduction of the band at the Chili Supper show

The following items are included on the 2009 season CD:

  • High quality audio recorded by Mr. Wetmore of the following:
    • field show
    • fight song
    • parade theme
    (The music can easily be downloaded from the CD onto an MP3 player or computer, or played in a CD player.)
  • Still photos from the U of I show.

      Spaghetti Dinner Update

      Thanks to all who returned their ticket and volunteer forms last week for the upcoming Spaghetti dinner (Mon. 2/22/10).

      That being said, with all the snow days and other days off, it's not too late to order tickets, offer to donate desserts, or volunteer to help. The more help we know of in advance, makes planning more manageable. We still need LOTS of help in all areas and of course desserts!

      All bands will perform—it's a great night of entertainment!

      1. The next Band Booster Meeting is Tues. 2/16 at 7:00 pm in the MHS band room. There are a number of upcoming events that need your help. Minutes from the January meeting as well as the treasurer's report and meeting agenda are attached. We hope to see you there!

      2. Volunteers are needed for the Spaghetti Supper on Monday 2/22. You will help serve, collect tickets, trays etc. Please contact Sean O'Donnell-Brown if you can assist. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

      Truffles Wrap Up

      Truffles Packaging

      Adult volunteers are needed for boxing truffles—Sat. 2/6 (beginning at 1:00 pm at University Baptist Church, 315 N. Sherman Ave.) This is not only helpful to the program, but it is also a very nice time to meet and get acquainted with other parents. It isn't difficult work and we do give training!

      Truffles Distribution

      Please have your student(s) pickup their truffles after school on Mon. Feb. 8 in the Felheimer foyer.

      Band Trip Accounts

      The MHS student account balances page now reflects all payments and credits as of February 1, 2010, 3:30 pm (includes Truffle Sale proceeds and all payments received in the MHS band room by 3:30 pm on February 1).
