MHS chair placement auditions have been moved from October 27 to November 3 with the hope that students will be healthier by that time.
If the marching band gets a good audio recording of the field show on Friday night, Boosters will distribute a CD that includes the field show music, the school song, and "Robin Hood" for just $5. Any proceeds will go toward the purchase of uniforms. Pre-order CDs at the Band Boosters membership table at Friday's football game (no payment due or accepted until delivery). This would make a great!
Don't forget uniform turn in is Fri. 10/23! Be sure to include all uniform pieces and your $10 cleaning fee (Checks should be written to Macomb Band Boosters)

Friday 10/23 is the last home football game as well as Senior Night. Parents of all band seniors are to meet at the North end of the field by no later than 6:45 pm. Don't forget to call 837-2331, extension 2016, by Wednesday, October 21, to identify who will be escorting your child.
All uniforms parts (including garment bags, hangers, and all Auxiliary items) will be turned in at the Fellheimer Foyer immediately after the halftime show on Fri. 10/23. A $10/student cleaning fee is due to Mr. Wetmore by Thurs. 10/22. Checks should be made out to the MHS Band Boosters. Please put your payment in an envelope with your child's name on it.
Volunteers are needed to help with this collection process. If you are able to help, please contact Cindy Cavett via e-mail or call her at 309-313-3043.
If you have concert wear that you would like to swap or sell, please contact Sean O'Donnell-Brown via e-mail with the specifics and he will post it on the web site. We will also accept uniform donations. Concert uniforms will be fitted in the near future, date/time yet to be determined.
Thanks for all the support you have provided to make this such a great marching season!

Band parents:
I am so sorry to hear of so many sick kids. I think the district has well over 100 absences today, and the number is still climbing. Don't worry about the performance; the show must go on, as they say. We'll just be a couple hands down. Keep your students home and in bed where they can rest!
Attached you will find the 2 options for makeup work when a concert is missed. Please have your child turn in the assignment by the end of the week if possible (end of the quarter is here already). Most of you will choose option 1 because of the short suspense.
Stay healthy!

Congratulations are extended to the MHS band members, Mr. Wetmore, Mr. Thurman, Mr. Zahnle, and Lauren White for all their hard work!
We hope to see you at the Chili Supper Mon. 10/19—all of our new awards will be on display!

Because of the extremely wet conditions and our show tomorrow, the band will not perform in uniform tonight. Everyone can wear street clothes but must dress warmly. We have a number of kids out sick already; let's try to avoid any more if possible.
Students must arrive by no later than 3:30 am and are to be in their band pants, black socks and band shoes. We will have very little time between when we arrive and our field performance step off so need to minimize dressing time. Again, be sure to dress warmly! Weather in Champaign for tomorrow is projected as follows: morning—rainy, temperatures 35 to 40 degrees; afternoon—partly cloudy high of 48 degrees; evening—partly cloudy with temperatures in the 40s. Brr!
Additionally, we'll need as many hands as possible to get all the equipment off the field in a timely manner (every band is allocated 13 minutes to get on, perform, get off). We will need 1 person/piece of equipment to make this happen. If you notice we are shorthanded when we come on the field, please come down to help us get things off the field/track and back to the bus.
Directions (per Mr. Wetmore) for those of you who do not know how to get to the U of I stadium:
Come in and look for other MHS families—there is support in numbers!

I have attached the U of I schedule from Mr. Wetmore in case you missed it in last week's email. Please make sure your student has turned in the permission form (located at the bottom of the page—it was due on Tues. 10/13) if they have not already done so.
The schedule for the competition is VERY tight. Your student needs to arrive at school by no later than 3:30 am on Sat. and should be wearing their band pants, black socks and band shoes. They need to dress for the weather (forecast at this time calls for a high of 52 degrees with the low of 32)—be sure they have a warm coat, hat & gloves for the evening. They will be able to change into street clothes after the parade.
Because of the tight schedule (13 minutes per band), we will need plenty of help getting pit equipment on and off the field. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
An am snack (before the field show) will be provided by Band Boosters.
MHS Band fans attending the show should try to sit together (there's strength in numbers!) and wear your orange and black.
Hope to see you on Sat!

The band will perform again at the football game on Fri. 10/16 against Farmington and will travel to Champaign on Sat. 10/17 to participate in the field and parade show.
