Solo and Ensemble Info

Parents:

A ton of your children have expressed interest in Solo and Ensemble Contest on Saturday, February 21 at Warsaw Middle School. This is a wonderful opportunity but not one to be taken lightly. The enclosed packet should be read thoroughly and permission sheet returned the week we get back. Please disregard if your child is not participating. I hope you can read the attachments. Urgent! Spring Band Trip Info

December 16, 2008

Per Mr. Wetmore, there are still 52 forms from the students that were due December 5th, indicating whether the band students intend to go on this year's spring trip. The final deadline is tomorrow, Wed. 12/17. If all the necessary forms are not in by then, he will begin to cancel the reservations for hotel, buses, restaurants, and the Chicago Symphony.

Band Accounts – Spring Trip

December 16, 2008

There have been a number of inquiries regarding the status of band accounts for the spring trip. Sean has posted carryover balances for student accounts from 2007-2008 to the website. He has also placed a link on the Boosters page under "Fundraising"; or you can use the complete URL. There is also a link in the Web Alert section of each page.

He will also post figures from the Fruit Sale as soon as we have final numbers.

Spring Trip Payments

December 15, 2008

Just a friendly reminder that the payments for the Spring Band Trip are as follows:

  • December 19, 2008 – $75.00 in your account
  • January 21, 2009 – an additional $75.00 in your account totaling $150.00
  • February 27, 2009 – an additional $75.00 in your account totaling $225.00
  • March 27, 2009 – an additional $45.00 in your account totaling $270.00

Band Concert Monday

December 11, 2008

Parents:

Please find the attached flyer for the holiday concert on Monday. I need about 3-4 parents to sit in the back of the auditorium with each grade as "chaperones." There is rarely an issue so it's not a hard job. Reply back as soon as you can so I can create the seating assignments.

Also on Monday morning, the 6th grade will be bussed over to Fellheimer Auditorium with Mr. Wetmore from Edison at 8:00. I will be on site at Fellheimer so St. Paul students should be dropped off there at 8:00 and stay with me. Rides should return at 9 for their dismissal.

On concert night we have to take group pictures as well so call times are extremely important. Talk to your child's coach and have them released early from practice to get changed and fed beforehand. All students should remain for the duration of the concert unless a parental written excuse is submitted by Monday morning.

Band Updates

Fruit Sale

Just a reminder that fruit distribution will be Saturday, December 13, at 7:00 am in the MHS Commons. If you are interested in helping, contact Gayle Zahnle. Please bring hand trucks if you have them.

Concert Attire

Update (MHS Concert Sunday, December 14, at 2:00 pm; student call time 1:30 pm)

When life hands you lemons…make lemonade. Please accept my apologies. In spite of valiant effort here in Illinois, the tuxedo delivery from New York has been delayed. I've been assured the tuxedos have been shipped and will be delivered this week in time for our concert on Sunday. Have your needles or seamstress ready or on call for hemming or other alterations. In a pinch duct tape works wonders! —Lisa Stear
