Just a few reminders:
Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held this evening, October 29; Thursday afternoon and evening, October 30; and Friday morning, October 31. Any parent who would like to bring in a treat (sweets, salty snacks, soft drinks/bottled water, cheese and crackers, something healthier, or whatever) for the high school teachers to sustain them through all the conferences and as a thank you for all they do, can bring them to the main office (marked "For the High School Teachers") to be put in the Teacher's Lounge. If you have any questions, please contact Kathy Burdick (836-1095) or Sandy Larimer (333-2036).
IMEA District festival (for those students who placed on 10/13) is Sat. 11/1. Basic schedules for the day are below. High School information is also on the band website (click on calendar event).
Chair placement auditions for high school are Tues. 11/4. This is also the time that students will return their marching uniforms (seniors, be sure you keep your chords!) and concert uniforms will be measured and ordered. Uniforms will begin at 5:30 pm; auditions will begin at 6:00. Please review attached documents and complete them as indicated. They are also available on the band website.
Dry cleaning and new concert uniform fees are due on this day (Tuesday, 11/4). Anyone who needs financial assistance for concert wear should contact Lisa Stear or Cindy Cavett (phone numbers and email addresses are on the attached document).

Mark your calendars for the following band related events:
Western Classic DVD orders due to Sean O'Donnell Brown today (10/15).
Senior Recognition Night – Fri. 10/17. This is the last home game of the year! Band seniors and their parents are to meet at north side of field at 6:30 pm to walk across for recognition immediately prior to the varsity game. This is also your last chance to get a Marching Band blanket ($20) or "band-ana" ($1). This is also a great opportunity to see the complete 2008 award-winning show.
Chili Supper 10/20 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Parent volunteers and desserts are still needed! If you are interested in helping, e-mail Dee Kirwan or call her at (309) 837-7809 as soon as possible.
Tickets: adults $6.00, children (12 and under) $3.00
Performance times (approx.) are as follows:
WIU Parade Sat. 10/18 10:30 am (new time)
Marching Band uniform returns – 11/4/08. Please be sure that your student returns all uniform pieces on their hanger, in their garment bag. Seniors – be sure to remove your cords! A $10 dry cleaning fee must accompany your uniform return.
Concert Attire – Students who need concert uniforms will be fitted during chair placement auditions on 11/4/08. Full uniforms or components will be fitted and ordered at this time. We need a number of volunteers to assist with this. If you can help, please contact Lisa Stear.
If you have a uniform that your student has outgrown, we are trying to arrange a uniform exchange for those who may be interested in this. Check the website (MacombBands.org) for details. Any swapping would need to be completed prior to the fitting on 11/4/08. Donations of previously used concert uniforms in good condition are also being accepted. Please forward these to Mr. Wetmore.

Just a reminder that there is a Band Boosters meeting tonight (10/14) in the band room at 7:00 pm. Please come lend your support.
Hope to see you there!
Request from Kathleen O'Donnell-Brown (unofficial spirit chair):
Remember that the marching competition at ISU contains a "crowd favorite" component. At Pekin, the parents and friends of one band (I think Paris) sat together in front of the pressbox and made A LOT of noise. I believe that band won the spirit award. It would be great if as many friends and relatives as possible would sit together in the stands near the press box and make A LOT of noise. (Shouldn't be too hard to find a big block of vacant seats at 8:00 am!) Look for the big Macomb flag!
Remember to bring your orange shirts, pennants, hankies and cow bells!
October 10, 2008
Chili Supper is Mon. 10/20 from 5:00-7:00 pm.
Band Parents,
Please return your Chili Supper ticket order and volunteer forms as soon as possible so that the organizers (1) can generate an accurate count of the number of meals to prepare and (2) have adequate time to arrange for volunteers where they are needed.
Remember, this is the only 6th grade and junior high band-related fundraiser of the year and the best time for band parents and families to get involved in maintaining and building a great band program in Macomb. Spread the word to all you know.
Come enjoy good food—great music and good fellowship!

Volunteers are needed to help with marching uniform return and concert attire activities during MHS chair placement auditions on Tuesday, October 28, beginning at about 5:30 pm in the Fellheimer Auditorium foyer at MHS. If you can help, please contact Lisa Stear via e-mail or at 309.333.1180.
Saturday (10/11) is the band's final show at ISU/Metamora. The schedule for the day is listed below at MacombBands.org. Sean has also posted a map to help if you are planning to drive over.
Good luck on Saturday!
