Re: Spring Band Trip May 7-8, 2010

      Date: December 22, 2009

This year, the spring band trip will coincide with the Wind Symphony's participation in the University of Illinois Superstate Band Competition. We plan to leave on the morning of Friday, May 7 (a school day), and travel to Champaign-Urbana. We hope to have a clinic as well as tour the Krannert Art Museum while on campus. If all goes as planned, we will have our annual pizza party prior to the band's performance in the Great Hall. After the awards ceremony, we will travel to St. Louis and stay overnight at the Drury Inn in Chesterfield, MO.

Saturday morning, we will have breakfast at the hotel and some mall time at the Chesterfield Mall. The afternoon will be spent at the St. Louis Zoo. After dinner (site TBA), we will attend a concert of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra at Powell Symphony Hall. At the conclusion of the concert, we will head back to Macomb arriving around 1:30 am Sunday morning.

The cost of the trip is around $180.00 per student. This includes one breakfast, two suppers, and admission to the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, one night's lodging, and charter coach transportation. Students will need to bring money for lunch on Friday and Saturday and for any shopping that they might want to do. Proceeds from the annual Fruit and Truffles sales will go toward funding the $180.00 cost.

The payment schedule will be as follows:

      • January 25, 2010 – $75.00 in your account
      • February 22, 2010 – An additional $75.00 in your account totaling $150.00
      • March 22, 2009 – Final payment of $30.00 in your account totaling $180.00

This trip is designed to be an enrichment experience for all of the band students. It is, however, an optional trip and will not be considered as a part of a student's grade. These trips are always one of the highlights of our year and we sincerely hope that all of the students will be able to attend. We will be happy to work with everyone as we try to finance the trip. If you want to go on this trip but need financial assistance, please let Mr. Wetmore or one of the band booster officers know about your need. If the cost of the trip can be reduced, Mr. Wetmore will inform parents and students as soon as that information becomes available.

Best wishes for a wonderful holiday season!

      Sincerely,

      Mr. Wetmore
