- Becca Pettit and Cheryl McGowan for their help and support at the grade 5 band orientation meeting
- IESA Organization contest volunteers
- MHS spring trip chaperones
- All who have expressed interest in helping with Band Boosters next year
- Doug Mattsey and Dave Wetmore
- School District board members
- All who supported the Macomb school bands and Macomb Band Boosters this past year
- Dave Bartlett for helping with all contests, shifting events throughout the year etc.
- Zac Chatterton for his overall support and for his assistance with AP testing in Champaign
- Sean O'Donnell-Brown for all of his organizational efforts
- Kelly Fitzgerald for her efforts to gather chaperones
President Sean O'Donnell-Brown called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.
Reports
- Secretary's Report – Cheryl McGowan: The minutes were modified to reflect that the new bass drum will be used inside and the old one will move to the pit. A motion to accept them as modified was made by Carol Clemons and seconded by Kim Johnson.
- Treasurer's Report – Becca Pettit: A motion to accept it was made by Kelly Fitzgerald and seconded by Carol Clemons.
- Jr. High School Director's Report – Doug Mattsey
- 5th grade orientation went well, there are 75 students in band so far
- Summer lessons may need to be held elsewhere due to the work being done in band & choir rooms as well as the auditorium.
- Spring band concert is on Monday 5/18 at 7:00 pm
- 6th grade is sounding very good, 7th grade is somewhat scattered but doing well, 8th grade is sounding very mature and definitely earned Best of the Day at contest.
- Instrument check-ins will begin next week
- Music shirts to be recycled will begin after the concert. Instrument donations are always welcome.
- Alex Coovert did a nice job as the student teacher and will conduct at the concert on 5/18.
- Big thanks to Sean and Cheryl for their efforts with IESA. We will probably host this event again next year.
- High School Director's Report – David Wetmore
- It's been a great, although unique (scheduling) year.
- Very pleased with spring trip and concert.
- Drum line clinics have begun, flag clinic started today, drum major selection process to begin tomorrow
- Graduation preparation to begins tomorrow
Old Business
- CD for alumni – Becca will contact local banks and purchase a CD based on the best interest rate. Motion to accept this plan was made by Carol Clemons and seconded by Doug Mattsey.
- Scholarships – Drum major camp checks are still pending but all other checks have been written.
- Spring Trip review – trip went well, Sean will send thank yous and a donation to the Lutheran Church/Champaign, Krannert Center, and the 2 Champaign Museums.
- Heritage Days Parade – will do if enough interest
- Next Year's calendar – There are numerous conflicts with 9/12 March-a-thon. Need to explore other day/time options.
New Business
- Officer elections – the following slate of officers was approved
- President – Carol Clemons
- Vice President – Gayle Zahnle
- Secretary – Cheryl McGowan
- Treasurer – Becca Pettit
- Jr. High Rep. – Dee & Paul Kirwan
- Kim Johnson agreed to organize chaperones and Kelly Fitzgerald agreed to assist her.
- Macomb Band Boosters dues ($25) will remain the same next year
- Volunteers for next year – Sean sent an email requesting volunteers for subcommittees next year. Response has been very positive so far.
- Luggage checks – a parent has requested that an adult of the same sex do luggage checks. It was agreed that this would occur for future trips.
- Executive Committee meeting – tentative scheduled for 8/11/09.
Next Band Booster Meeting to be held on 9/8/09
