Vice president Kelly Fitzgerald called the meeting to order at 7:02 pm.

Reports

  1. Secretary's ReportCheryl McGowan: A motion to accept them was made by Cindy Cavett and seconded by Becca Pettit.
  2. Treasurer's Report – Becca Pettit: A motion to accept it was made by Kathleen O'Donnell-Brown and seconded by Cindy Cavett.
  3. Jr. High School Director's Report – Dave Wetmore
    • Students did very well at the solo and ensemble contest.
    • Generally things are going very well. 6th grade band is preparing for Fine Arts Expo. (Fri. March 27)
    • Mr. Mattsey is in the process of organizing the Jr. High Organizational contest (5/1/09). Scheduling will be a bit tricky because the contest starts at 2:00 pm and this is a school day.
    • 6th-8th grade bands have a student teacher from WIU starting this week.
  4. High School Director's Report – David Wetmore
    • Spaghetti Supper went very well. Great attendance and all groups played well.
    • HS Solo & Ensemble contest went well despite massive scheduling conflicts.
    • Spring sports have started so there are some conflicts with Jazz Ensemble rehearsals.
    • Olympic Conference Band Festival—several more chaperones are needed.
    • HS Organizational Contest – Mr. Wetmore stated he is having trouble getting the money and paperwork back from schools attending. The schedule has been completed and the contest will run from 7:30 am-1:30 pm (approx.). There was some discussion about concessions and it was agreed that the band would do them. Kelly Fitzgerald agreed to coordinate. It was also suggested that a volunteer meeting be held the evening before the event to enhance communication.
    • The tape for Super State went well and has been submitted.
    • Mr. Chatterton is working on arrangements for AP Euro testing in Champaign which conflict with the spring trip.
    • Mr. Wetmore stated the Jazz Night is a great idea, but he is not sure where it could fit in the schedule. Discussed the possibility of doing it on a Sun afternoon.

Old Business

  • Debit Card – Sean sent a letter to the Macomb Educational Foundation regarding our plans, but has not received any follow up contact yet.

New Business

  • Nominating committee chairperson appointment – Group agreed to discuss at our next meeting. Need to find replacements for Pres. & Vice Pres.
  • MHS graduation – scheduled for May 23/Memorial Day weekend, will discuss this at next Booster meeting.
  • Grade 6 summer lessons – lessons will begin 2nd week in June.
  • Heritage Days Parade – Mr. Wetmore needs to determine who is interested in participating, the group will practice Tues. & Thurs.
  • MHS marching band camps – last year's format worked well, will probably repeat again this year. Tentative start date is 8/3/09.

Next meeting will be 4/14/09 at 7:00 pm
