Call to order
Meeting called to order by president Sean O'Donnell-Brown at 7:00 pm
Thank-Yous
- Dee & Paul Kirwan – for Chili Supper coordination and all Chili Supper volunteers

Reports
- Secretary's Report – Cheryl McGowan presented the minutes from the 10/14/08 meeting. A motion to accept them was made by Kelly Fitzgerald and seconded by Kim Johnson.
- Treasurer's ReportBecca Pettit presented the treasurer's report. A motion to accept it was made by Joanne Hooper and seconded by Maggie Lien.
- Ways and Means Report – Beth Seaton – no report
- Jr. High School Director's Report – Doug Mattsey
- Mr. Mattsey stated the Chili Supper was a wonderful event. There were some minor traffic issues getting musicians up to the front due to the volume in attendance.
- IMEA district went very well. Students are to be commended for their efforts. This is always a good educational experience.
- 7th grade is going well and showing good growth. Bethany Freese has recently completed her block rotation and was a great addition. We will also be getting a full time student teacher this spring.
- 8th grade seems to be losing some energy. They are a very talented group but appear tired.
- Mr. Mattsey is doing a lot of arranging for 6th grade. A large box of music (unknown source) was given to us last year. Some of this is being used to develop new options for 6th grade.
- Dickens Performances on Fri. 12/5 5:00 pm at the Old Dairy (Woodwinds, Brass, Low Brass).
- We will also try to visit local nursing homes after the holiday concerts but before winter break.
- Mon. 12/15 is the Holiday concert – Jazz band will debut.
- This year the Music Dept. may receive curriculum money. Mr. Mattsey and Mr. Wetmore will work collaboratively on this. More news on this later.
- Mr. Mattsey stated he would be marching in the Inaugural Parade in January. He will be gone Jan. 5-11 and 19th-21st.
- High School Director's Report – David Wetmore
- Mr. Wetmore stated that 115 auditions occurred for Wind Symphony and Concert Band
- Concert Band camp was 11/4 and went very well. Techniques and chamber music. Then adjourned to auditorium for scavenger hunt and pizza.
- Dickens Performances on Fri. 12/5 6:00 pm at the Secret
- Jazz band has begun and is going well but another piano player is needed.
- High School Holiday Concerts is 12/14.
- Citrus sale started 11/4 and will end Mon. 11/24. If you want to place an order and do not have a student contact, call Mr. Wetmore at school.
- All State is 1/31/09
- Spring Band trip is 5/8/09 to Superstate in Champaign and then to Chicago to attend an evening concert of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Tentative cost per student is $270.00.
- Spring Concert has been rescheduled for May 3.
Old Business
- Concert Attire – all items have been ordered
- Truffles – sale dates are 1/12-1/23; boxing will occur 1/24 & 2/7; distribution will occur on 2/10. Band members will get $5 for each box they sell. Kathy Burdick will be in charge of orders for this event.
- Spaghetti Supper date is 2/16/09. Sean O'Donnell-Brown will coordinate. All bands will perform.
- Organizational Contests: 4/4/09 (High School) Boosters will be doing concessions and logistics for this event. 5/2/09 (Jr. High) Boosters will be helping with logistics, PTO will do concessions.
New Business
- Alumni Mailing – Mailing will be finalized on 12/2, Boosters able to assist with this project should meet at 6:30 pm in the library.
- Discussed possibility of developing a Marching Band DVD with Mrs. Thurman for distribution to band families. May want to show some of this prior to the holiday concert. Could also use this for marketing etc.
- Performing Art Center has expressed interest in band members (woodwind choir, jazz band etc.) performing there. Will explore this.
