Notes: Marching Uniform Distribution

  • Check-In & Reserved Uniforms – Check off students and hand out reserved uniforms if necessary. They still need to try it on and go to Final Approval. Check to see if they have their uniform contract (signed and parent e-mail address). Send contract with student so it can be filled out as uniform pieces are assigned.
  • Pants – Two people to help students with fitting and two to retrieve and hang up pants. Please put one slash through the pant number when the pant is assigned to a student.
  • Coats – Two people to help students with fitting and two to retrieve and hang up coats. Please put one slash through the coat number when the coat is assigned to a student.
  • Hats & Plumes – Two people to help students with hats, plumes, and berets. Percussion (whiter, shorter) and drum majors (orange) have specially designated plumes. Hold back badly flaking gold brims as long as possible. Have students try hats on. Remind students that long hair must be worn up and inside hat. The rim is the primary fitting point; students can adjust how low or how high the a hat sits on their heads at any time. Remind students that they can "stuff" inner rim lining with newspaper or tissue to make hat fit snugly at rim (i.e., better a too-big hat than a too-small hat). Remind students that the string that connects the leaves in the top of the hat can be adjusted to allow the hat to sit higher or lower on their heads. Check condition of each plume before placing in hat box.
  • Final Approval & Alterations –
  • Strip & Bag – Make sure the name tag and contract is correctly filled out with the numbers of all the uniform parts. Assist with properly hanging up the uniform on the wooden hanger and make sure the name tag is inserted into the pocket of the bag. Remind students to order gloves and shoes if needed. Hand contract to Cheryl so she can enter information.
